It was sad to hear of the death of former Motherwell and Falkirk player Paul McGrillen whatever the circumstances surrounding it. As part of the 1991 Scottish Cup Winning side he will be forever embedded into ‘Well folklore. Having watched him wind down his career at junior level he still played with the same tenacious annoyance that led his fans to love him and his opponent to hate playing against him. The man himself took all the stick on the chin and would more often than not join in the banter from the terraces.
In a week where another Junior stalwart in Cumnock keeper Brian Potter died before his time fans of clubs across the country will pay their respects to two of the most recognisable faces on the junior scene. May they rest in peace.
